In this guide
You have the lecture. You can read the slides and nod along. What you do not have is a way to find out, before Friday, which of those slides you can only recognise. A nursing student on r/StudentNurse put the gap well: the exam questions were about critical thinking, and the exam "doesn't explicitly restate the content".
The usual objections to generated questions are fair. Commercial banks arrive at the wrong level for an in-house block, and a chatbot handed a lecture gives back a few shallow questions on the same three slides. Questions built from the lecture itself are bounded by what was taught, framed for your programme, and each one carries the slide it came from. They are study aids, not NBME or NBOME items, and they do not replace UWorld or your faculty's bank.

What one generated question contains
A stem, five options A to E, one correct answer. The explanation names the correct answer first, walks the mechanism that makes it correct, then deals with the most tempting wrong option and why a prepared student picks it. Under that, every wrong option gets a one-line note on why it fails. Beside the explanation sits the image of the slide the question was built from. A few questions in each set are flagged high-yield.
The slide image is the trust mechanism. In a r/StudentNurse thread where students were uploading notes to a chatbot for questions, the sharpest reply was that it "routinely gives incorrect information". With the slide beside the explanation, a doubtful answer takes a glance to check instead of a search through the PDF. If the explanation and the slide disagree, the slide wins.

How the wrong options are built
A wrong option is only useful if you might pick it. So the distractors are the right diagnosis at the wrong stage, the drug that treats the neighbouring condition, the mechanism run backwards, the lab value that moves the other way. If option D could not tempt anyone who attended the lecture, ruling it out teaches nothing.
That is also why each wrong option gets its own line. "Incorrect" teaches nothing. "Incorrect, because that presents with a normal anion gap and the stem gave you a raised one" is the learning. Students who have tried this with general tools know the failure mode. A student on r/medicalschool recommending NotebookLM for in-house questions still had to prompt separately for "more difficult, clinical vignette questions", and another reply found whole PowerPoints gave weak context and uneven coverage. A dental student on r/DentalSchool gave up on it because it "just regenerates the same topics and questions every single time". Distractor quality and coverage across the slides are the whole job.
How to take the set
In the browser, the set runs as a scored quiz. You commit to an answer, the explanation and its slide are there for every question, and you get a score at the end. Or print it. The print layout lays the questions out as an exam with the answer key on its own page, so you can sit it on paper or hand it to a study group without handing over the answers.
Either way, attempt it without notes and commit before you look. Reading the explanation for a question you got right is not wasted, because the note on the tempting distractor is often the thing you half knew.
When to generate questions instead of cards
Cards and questions do different jobs and cost the same, one credit each. Generate the Anki deck when the lecture is new and the job is getting the facts to stick over the coming weeks. Generate Practice when the exam is close and you need to know which lectures you can apply today, before you spend the evening reviewing the ones you already know. A five-option stem forces effortful retrieval in a way rereading the slide never does.
Practice is the Apply step of the method. A first-year on r/medicalschool found the popular banks "far beyond my current knowledge" for an early block. Dental students on r/DentalSchool had the opposite problem. One found Anki "a pain to make" with no time to go over it twice. Another said AI practice questions were their go-to for every test. Lecture-scoped questions fit both, because the level selector frames the stems for your programme while the lecture stays the source. If you are eight lectures behind with the exam on Friday, too many lectures before the exam works through the triage.
Turn a missed question into a fix
A miss is information only if you name what kind it was. Four kinds cover almost every one: a fact you never had, a mechanism with a broken link, a stem you misread, or two options you could not separate. Each needs a different fix, and the slide beside the explanation is where it starts.

Name the cause
Fact, mechanism, misread, or discrimination. Write the one word next to the question before you read on.

Go to the slide
It is beside the explanation. Decide whether the fact was on the slide and you never encoded it, or you encoded it wrong. Those are different problems.

Make one card
A missing fact or a broken link becomes a single Anki card with a prompt you can grade. One card, not five. If you already generated the deck from the same lecture, find the existing card and press Again instead.

Retest in a new form
Explain the mechanism aloud without the stem's wording, or take a second set later. Getting the same question right on a second pass proves you remember the question. It says nothing about the medicine.
Quick answers
Are these NBME-style or board questions?
No. They are study questions generated from your lecture, not written or reviewed by NBME, NBOME or any examination board. They do not replace UWorld, AMBOSS or faculty banks.
Can I generate questions from a PowerPoint?
Yes. Upload the .pptx or .ppt directly. Speaker notes are not carried over, so see PowerPoint to Anki if the notes matter.
Can I print the set?
Yes. The print layout formats the questions as an exam with the answer key on its own page.
What if a question or explanation is wrong?
Check it against the slide beside the explanation. If they disagree, trust the slide and drop the question.
Should I generate the Anki deck as well?
If the exam is weeks away, yes. Anki plus Practice from one upload is two credits. If the exam is this week, Practice alone tells you where to spend the time you have.
